Homeopathy for muscles, tendons & ligament injuries

Did you know homeopathy can support the musculoskeletal system? Homeopathy can be incredibly supportive during times of injury, and living in a family full of athletes, I can tell you it has helped us countless times. Read on below for some of our natural homeopathic first-aid remedies that can support musculoskeletal injuries and healing:

Arnica: Bumps, bruises, muscular strains, blunt-force trauma to muscles. It is one of the leading trauma remedies, to be followed by other more specific remedies depending on the area and type of trauma. Compare with Bellis for trauma to the abdomen or deeper tissue.

Ruta Graveolens: Injuries, dislocations, fractures and sprains. Injuries to joint, tendon, cartilage or periosteum.

Rhus Tox: Ligament injuries, joint pains and strains that are stiff and worse for the first movement but get better once the patient gets moving. Pains feel worse for being cold and better for heat

Hypericum: Injuries to nerve tissue and nerve rich areas like fingers, toes, coccyx. Often has sharp, shooting pain, tingling, or pins and needles.

Bryonia: Joint inflammation or injuries that are worse for any movement at all - patient just wants to be still. Pain feels better for staying still, cold and pressure to the area. Particularly helpful for injuries to synovia, bursa and joint spaces if it fits the above description.

Ledum: Bruising, black eyes, and puncture wounds. Swelling or injuries where the part is purple in colour or the injured part feels cold to touch (but although it feels cold, it also feels better for cold compresses). The pain is worse for heat, motion and slight pressure.

Symphytum: Bone trauma or fracture (after Arnica and/or Ledum and only to be used once the bone has been set). Injuries to the eyes, face, shins, periosteum, cartilage or tendons.

Hamamelis: Old bruising that isn’t responding to Arnica or Bellis.

Bellis: Bruising or trauma to soft tissues - particularly in the abdomen and deeper tissue layers.

If you’d like a homeopathic blend that covers most sprains, strains, bumps and bruises, try our Injury Blend which contains Arnica, Ruta, Hypericum and Rhus. Also, if there was an amount of shock that came with the injury - Aconite 200c is a great support for frights and shock.
