Homeopathy for Teething

Homeopathy for Teething: Gentle Relief for Your Baby

Teething is a normal part of development, but it can still be an exhausting and distressing time for both baby and parent. Irritability, disrupted sleep, drooling, swollen gums, and red cheeks are common symptoms, and leave many parents searching for natural ways to ease the discomfort and support their baby. This is where homeopathy can help and included below are some common homeopathic medicines that have been traditionally used and loved by parents to support teething:

Chamomilla
This is the most well-known and widely used remedy for teething. It’s a great place to start when you have a teething baby. Chamomilla is especially suited to babies who become extremely irritable, cannot be comforted, and demand to be held constantly. One cheek may be red while the other remains pale. Pain may seem unbearable and come with intense crying or anger.

Belladonna
Useful when teething is accompanied by sudden inflammation, flushed cheeks, a hot forehead, and possibly a low-grade fever. Babies needing Belladonna may be restless, oversensitive to light and noise, and prone to sudden waking. Note: Belladonna should only ever be given in homeopathic potency.

Pulsatilla
This remedy is ideal for babies who become clingy, weepy, and need constant reassurance. Their moods may shift quickly, and they often feel better when cuddled or taken outside in the fresh air.

Calcarea Phosphorica
Indicated when teething is slow or difficult. Babies may be cranky, crave something to chew, and have trouble sleeping. This remedy is often used when teething is delayed or accompanied by growing pains.

Calcarea Carbonica
This is suited to babies who are slow to teethe and may be fleshy, sweaty babies (especially around the head), and prone to digestive upsets. These children may be cautious, easily tired. Teething may be accompanied by diarrhea and restlessness at night.

Teething Combo Available
Because teething symptoms can vary from baby to baby—and even from day to day—we do have a homeopathic teething blend available that includes some of the remedies mentioned above (Chamomilla, Belladonna, Calc Phos and Calc Carb).

Dosage: Please chat to your homeopath about individual dosage guidelines. Acute dosage guidelines for teething is often one dose every 15 minutes, tapering back dosage as soon as symptoms start to subside. No more than 6 doses should be needed in any 24 hour period - less is best with homeopathy.

Please note: If symptoms persist, please get in touch. This is not medical advice and should not replace consultation with a medical professional. For any serious health concern or emergency, please don’t delay in seeking urgent medical assistance.
