Clean 15 and Dirty Dozen
If you would like to reduce your exposure to pesticide residues but don't necessarily want to buy all of your fruit and vegetables organically, you may have come across the Clean Fifteen and Dirty Dozen.
These two lists are published annually by the US-based Environmental Working Group (EWG) and rank fruits and vegetables according to pesticide residues detected through testing of produce in the United States. Note: the above list pictured is based on the EWG’s 2024 list.
Low-Tox Living
Every day we are exposed to a wide range of chemicals through the food we eat, the air we breathe and the products we use in our homes. Reducing unnecessary exposure to certain environmental chemicals can be a practical choice for people wanting to improve wellbeing and create a simpler, lower-tox home environment.
Moving towards low-tox living doesn't need to feel overwhelming. There are plenty of simple changes you can make across your food, home, beauty and cleaning products, and you certainly don't have to do everything at once. One small change is still a step in the right direction.
